Vook·2026
Vook
An audiobook platform built around shared listening rooms.
The brief
Audiobooks are growing fast, but the apps haven't kept up. Discovery is shallow, social is missing, and most players still feel like leftover music UIs. Vook wanted to ship a product that treated listening as something you do with people, not just next to them.
We started with a six-week research phase: 14 listeners, three publishers, and a long look at what people actually do when a book ends.
Approach
Three product pillars carried the rest of the work:
- Listening rooms. Real-time co-listening with a shared queue, lightweight chat, and a reading-group rhythm.
- Editorial discovery. Hand-curated rooms, themed collections, and writers-in-residence — discovery as a publication, not an algorithm.
- Companion mode. An always-visible mini-player that lets you keep listening as you browse, search and share.
